One of the most Aussie past times I can personally think of is Footy Tipping. Nothing epitomises our love of sport, our passionate rivalry and the stark reality that none of us knows jack shit about footy when it comes down to it - and yet everyone is an expert.
Cue the Footy season and with it the office rivalries, fight for bragging rights and of course the $50 - $100 first prize that usually comes with the expectation of buying everyone a beer - which you've since worked out comes to exactly $27 more than what you initially won?! hmmmmmmm
Well all that is about to change because as the big corporations and brands of the world catch on to just how mental we Aussies are about our AFL and NRL Footy Tipping they are seeing opportunities to gain more customers and get in our good books - bookmaker books that is. But this means being nice to us - because we Australians are not easily convinced....unless is that a cold beer?! SOLD!
Beer is Nice. $100k is Nicer
Before you start crying 'sacrilege' and calling for my head allow me to remind you that, as Homer Simpsons one said - "Money can buy lots of peanuts" - where peanuts are beer obviously. Homer goes on to provide further explanation... to himself after he demands more details:
"Money can be exchanged for goods and or services"
This of course includes peanuts - or beer in our case.
